Building On Our Commitment to Central Iowa Livestock Producers
This expansion, the second phase of a three-phase project at the Ellsworth feed mill, will allow this mill to pellet 800,000 tons of feed annually. As a part of this project, it’s projected that up to 10 additional jobs will be created as the mill hits peak capacity.
Included in the expansion will be a 250 tons-per-hour receiving system, and a 100,000-gallon liquid storage area. Additionally, a 3,000 square-foot warehouse will be constructed for additional bag storage, and will house the 24-bin microsystem that will feed the 12-ton mixer. A new 700,000 bushel bin will also be constructed for increased corn storage.
In 2012, the board approved Phase I, which included slipping the mill tower and adding a pellet mill. This phase also included access to five loadout bins and 13 ingredient bins. Phase II wasn’t projected to take place for another two to three years, but because of the additional growth opportunity that has been identified in the area, the Ag Partners Leadership Team recommended moving into Phase II now.
“This investment will allow the company to continue to grow our market share in this area, and provide a quality pellet to better serve our customers,” said Scott Lovin, Vice-President of Feed. “We are proud to continue to reinvest in the communities we serve.”
